This Hurts A Bit; But It's Fun!!
After getting laid off from my job and trying to support ourselves (my wife and I) and she has a decent job, we decided to get somewhat frugal in our approach to doing things. Of course, one of the easiest ways to save money is to use coupons at the grocery store. We had never done so, but we are doing it now. And it's actually quite fun.
You can save a lot of money if you pay attention to the coupons. We easily save 10% each week and we have not really gotten scientific about the whole deal. I would think using coupons and store specials each week anyone could save 20% or more on their grocery bill. It hurts a little to have to do that, but when you get the receipt and it shows how much you save it's worth it.
I have to admit this though. We buy our dog and cat food at the same grocery store. And while we might skimp a bit on food for the wife and I that is not going to happen for my babies. We might use a coupon or two for them, but the quality of their food will stay the same. If not, I fear they would go on a hunger strike. My cats have done so several times in the past when WE decided to save money on THEIR food. It just did not work.
So next week we are going to have Hamburger Helper, Kraft Mac and Cheese, Ballpark Franks (I will be thinking of Casey's at Disney when I eat these), Oscar Meyer turkey and ham and some organic salad that will get tossed in for free. I am so ready for my meals next week I can hardly stand it. And I can't wait for the weekend paper when we get to stock up coupons again. More later!!
Hello and Welcome
Hello and Welcome
I just came upon this site after I saw an ad on Craigslist. It looks like a very cool site. I threw my name in the hat and will see how this goes. I will introduce myself to all who want to read about me and what I have to say. I will get down to some writing after this post.
I am a middle-aged, married guy who loves to write. I write on a variety of topics in a down home, folksy kind of manner. I don't duck any subjects nor do I shy away from controversial issues. I speak my mind, but in a way that invites dissenting opinions to discuss the issue not argue about it. I am a very laid-back and easy going person. I think everyone will enjoy not only my style, but my demeanor as well.
I am a freelance writer. I have doing that for four years now. I did have a regular job up until three weeks ago today. My employer, in the engineering\surveying business fired me. Well, he calls it a layoff, but I am not fooled. LOL. I have written novels, screenplays, short stories, blogs, magazine articles and more. I have done quite well on my magazine stuff, but the rest is still waiting to be published. That's my big push now. I am going to work on the longer stuff I have written and try to get it published.
I love astronomy, organic gardening, cooking and music as my main hobbies. I have many more though. I love to discuss them all. So if you want to talk hit me up and I will be more than glad to converse with you.
I hope as I write many of you will begin to read. I have a lot to say and I hope many of you will want to hear it. Thanks for reading.
